Do you need simple, straight to the point guidance with creating your first Squarespace website? Good, you are in the right place!
In this post, you will see how I create a website on Squarespace. You will get easy step-by-step instructions on what I am doing and why certain things need to be done. My intention is to make things as simple and easy to understand as possible, but if you have any questions, simply leave me a comment 🙂
How to build a Squarespace website?
First, go to the Squarespace website and hit the button “Get started” in the top right corner.
Next step is to choose a template for your future website. You will probably need to spend some time selecting the look and functionality you want to have. Remember that on Squarespace (in contrast to the Wix site builder) you can switch templates anytime, so don’t waste too much time on choosing “the right one” at this point.
To make the template search easier, you can select a category based on the purpose of your future website: is it an online shop, portfolio, business, professional service or something else? In my example, I am going with a blog template called Tudor. Once the decision is made, click on the “Start with [template name]” button.
When you have decided with what website template you want to proceed, you will come to the registration form. Filling it in is easy and intuitive. When you have filled in the form, you are basically done with creating your new website!
Creating a new website with Squarespace only takes a few minutes. When you have created your account, you will get a pre-filled demo website with the template you chose. Now starts the most interesting part – setting up and configuring your site. However, this part is also a bit more complicated, so you will need some guidance if you don’t have prior experience from creating websites and/or Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). For some people this is the most tedious part of the job. For me, on the contrary, this is when the fun begins 😀 So yay! Let’s get started!
